The Project

Wotton Swimming Pool was built by pupils of the secondary modern school in 1959. Since then it has been improved, notably by addition of solar heating and more recently the retractable cover, see History for more info.

The wooden changing hut is now over 45 years old, and the solar panels were installed 30 years ago. Both these now need replacing. Also, the pool must have access for the disabled and needs a general tidy up.

The plan is to demolish the existing changing rooms, build new, and improve the underfoot areas both directly next to the pool and around the whole site area. A ramp will be included to help disabled people access the site. Also the solar panel will be refurbished.

Our rough estimate of costs (without VAT) is 15k for demolition, 150k for the building, 45k for the ramp, steps and landscaping, 10k to improve the pool surround, 20k for the solar panel and 30k for fees.

The building will be low maintenance with cedar clad walls and a coated metal roof
